When he was a child, Alex was abused by his father. Now, in his mid-thirties and his father in turn, he is increasingly overwhelmed by this role. He questions his ability to love, he is afraid of becoming like his father.
Alex seeks refuge in alcohol and eventually drifts away. Towards where? It does not matter. Maybe Casablanca. Still in Germany, a stranger suddenly finds herself in her car. She becomes that companion who doesn’t judge him. No questions, no expectations.
An escape from one’s inner self, from one’s demons. He begins a turbulent journey across Europe; drugs, ecstasy, unrelated relationships, foreign places – they experience a surreal time, inebriated, in the middle of nowhere.
The more Alex the father moves away, the more he misses his son. They separate at the border with Africa. She reaches the destination, Casablanca. He ends up in a hotel in Tangier and becomes completely lost in the vortex of his childhood trauma.
